With summer just around the corner, here are a few tips to help you determine if you will need to replace your air conditioner or if maintenance and repairs will keep you cool:
- How old is your HVAC? If your system is 10-12 years old, now is time to consider upgrading your air conditioning system. With lower electric bills, a new energy efficient system will pay for itself in just a few years.
- Are you constantly calling your A/C company? If your air conditioning system needs frequent repairs, it’s probably time to replace it.
- Do you have hot and cold spots in your home? Hot and cold spots in your home could be caused by the air conditioning unit itself or problems with ductwork or insulation. Our State Certified Energy Raters will conduct a “Blower Door Test” or a “Duct Blaster Test” to determine the cause of the problem.
- Are your cooling bills increasing? An inefficient HVAC system will have to work longer and harder to cool your home to a desired temperature causing your electric bills to go up.
- Does your home feel humid in the summer months? If your cooling system isn’t working properly, the air conditioning system is not removing the humidity from the indoor air.
Do you think you’ll need help with your air conditioner in the upcoming months?
